What SessionSafe does

SessionSafe is a browser extension that saves and restores your browser windows, tabs and tab groups.

Data stored on your computer

To do its job SessionSafe reads the URL and title of your open tabs and the name and color of your tab groups. This data is kept in the extension's local storage in your browser. It does not leave your computer unless you turn on the Pro cloud backup. Incognito windows are never read.

Pro cloud backup (optional)

If you buy SessionSafe Pro and use the cloud backup, each snapshot is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before it is uploaded. The key is created on your device and never sent to us. Our server at sessionsafe.chpx.app stores only the encrypted data, the time of each snapshot and a hashed identifier of your installation. We cannot read your tabs, URLs or titles.

You can delete your cloud backup at any time from Settings, or by writing to us.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details and email are entered on Stripe's page and handled under Stripe's privacy policy. We receive the purchase status and a Stripe customer reference so we can confirm your plan and open the billing portal for you.

Product analytics

To learn which features people use and where the upgrade path loses them, SessionSafe records a few usage events, such as "a session was restored" or "started checkout". Each event holds the event name, the extension version, a short detail like the plan chosen, your country, and a one-way hash of your installation's random identifier. It never holds URLs, page titles, your name, email, IP address or payment details. The extension sends the events to our server, which forwards them to PostHog (US cloud, hosted in the United States). They are not used for advertising or shared with anyone else, and are kept for at most one year. You can turn them off in Settings.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or share your data.
• We do not use your data for advertising or to determine creditworthiness.
• We do not read the content of the pages you visit.
• We do not run any remote code in the extension.

Your rights (GDPR / LGPD)

You can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of any data we hold about you by writing to support@chpx.io. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.
